The United Society of Artists
Briefly About Us:
The United Society of Artists is a non-profit making organisation which aims to show high quality works of art at its Annual Exhibitions in Central London. There is no bias towards work of any particular school or medium. The broad sweep of styles and cultures revealed at UA exhibitions vividly demonstrates the talents of artists of widely varying backgrounds resident in the UK or abroad and reflects the rich multicultural nature of Britain today. UA exhibitions attract artists of international quality and talent.
The UA was first established in 1921 as an art organisation to give artists living outside London the opportunity to exhibit in central London. At the completion of its 86th year the UA is still evolving and strongly developing as a forward-thinking organisation. Even though our current membership tends to be largely drawn from areas close to the capital, we are keen to welcome members from all parts of Britain and happily maintain links with members now living abroad.
Prospective members are expected to produce work of a high professional standard and to demonstrate good structural drawing abilities. Membership is not limited to a specific number and the UA's exceptionally broad frame work makes it one of Britain's most independent groups.
At the Annual Open Exhibition each artist may submit six works which will be considered by the Selection Committee. Over the years this exhibition has provided an excellent introduction to the world of affordable and collectable fine art.
In addition to the Annual Exhibition, satellite exhibitions are organised at various times by individual UA members. These exhibitions are open to other members and are funded primarily by the participants with support from UA funds.
